CODY HARPER GARRARD
HEYBURN - Cody Harper Garrard, 48, of Heyburn, Idaho, was taken from us unexpectedly on January 22, 2026.
He was born on January 5, 1978 in Burley, Idaho to Thomas and Kathleen (Harper) Garrard. He is the 5th of their 8 children. Cody grew up on his family farm in the Pella area where his love of agriculture started. He attended Burley High School where he was a part of the football and wrestling programs. He graduated in 1997. His education would take him to Utah state to study Ag Mechanics, but he really majored in having fun.
He grew up with Emily Couch and they dated a bit in high school. He couldn't keep his mind off her and convinced her to marry him on January 29, 1999.
Cody and Emily raised their 4 wonderful children together in the heart of Burley. Cody loved being a father and had many things to teach his kids. He passed on his love of fishing, bird hunting and hunting dogs to all of his children. This would ensure that if he brought home a dog without permission, it could stay because they all needed their own hunting dog!
Cody loved being involved in the family farm, but later got the opportunity to work for the Amalgamated Sugar Company where he was still currently employed.
Cody and Emily had recently moved to Heyburn where they were enjoying life at their new home and still chasing around their youngest child, Livy, to all of her various activities. He had gained a lot of titles in life, one of which was his kids' favorite "bad-A," but his most recent and one of his favorites was Grandpa. His favorite pastime was getting to take naps on the couch with his new grandson, Wade.
We are all so heartbroken by our sudden loss. Dad, we will miss your sarcastic comments, our inside jokes, always counting on you to sharpen our knives, but most of all we will just miss you.
Cody is survived by his loving wife, Emily, their 4 children Ellie (Reece) Poulton, Taten Garrard, Emma (Jordan) Christensen, Livy Garrard, and his beautiful grandson Wade Poulton. He is also survived by his parents, Tom and Kathy Garrard and his siblings, Tom (Jamee) Garrard, Michele (Justin) Wuthrich, Cyndi (Wes) Leavitt, Carrie (Kelly) Bowen, Casey (Candice) Garrard, Kami (Jared) Christensen, Kalli (Jordan) Hunger and his in-laws, Keith and Sally Couch, Sarah (Donald) Later, Amber (Dallas) Griffin, and his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2026 at the Emerson 1st Ward building, 127 South 950 West Paul, Idaho. Burial will follow in the Paul Cemetery. Friends will be received Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert and from 10:00 until 10:45 Monday morning at the church prior to the services.

Me and Cody work together for 7 years. It didn't matter where I worked at. He was always coming up and we'd crack jokes and talk crap to each other. If we were having troubles in our lives we could talk to each other about it and we never judged each other. I will miss him very much. I now work with his daughter Ellie at Titan machinery and she's awesome. I'm sorry to the family he is a great guy great father funny as hell Will miss You Cody. Harlin Gage
So very sorry to hear this. My thoughts & prayers are with you Emily and all of your family.
I always enjoyed visiting with him. Kathi Laumb
My thoughts and prayers are with Cody's family, may you all be able to find peace and comfort during this hard time. I had the privilege to work with Cody at the Sugar factory with our PDM crew and it was never a dull moment. We cracked jokes, gave each other a hard time, and pulled pranks on each other, my favorite was telling him to remember who you are and what you stand for, and in return he would say yes mother, but most importantly we helped each other out and learned from each other. You will be missed brother, till we meet again....Jacob Palomarez
Emily and family, I am so sorry to hear of Cody’s passing so suddenly. I have always thought the world of your family from the time Ellie and Jayme were carpooled to preschool and dance to family pictures as well as bring in the same ward with your folks for years and now in Jared and Kami’s ward in Utah. My love and prayers go out to you all.....Tammi Pollard
I am so sorry to hear about Cody. We grew up in the same ward and I have loved the Garrards so much. Cody was always fun. Although Cody loved to quietly tease, he was always kind. He is a good person and will be missed. Sending all my love and prayers to Emily & kids, Tom & Kathy, Michelle, Cindy, Tom, Carrie, Kami, and Kalli. Amanda (Barrus) Taylor
It was and is a great blessing to know the Garrard family. I remember y all those young Garrards that passed my path. All different nevertheless all wonderful. Cody was just and neat young man who was kind and genuine. My heart just hurts by his passing. May Heavenly Father bless Emily and the rest of the family.Love ya The Ringles
Emily and extended family, we are so sorry to learn of Cody's passing. Our association with the Garrard and Couch families over the years provides many fond memories. Cody was a great guy and loved his family. He will be sorely missed in so many ways. May the Lord bless your family at this time of loss and may you be comforted with cherished and lasting memories. We wish you all the best in the coming weeks and months. Gaylen and Carolyn Smyer
I was so shocked and sad to hear about Cody's passing. I sure enjoyed having Cody's and his family in our ward; we didn't see him regularly at church, but I could tell from the days he was there plus at the dinners, etc that he was truly loved by his family and respected by other members who chatted with him. This soft-spoken and humble man was truly a great influence in his family, because they are all special people who I missed when they moved to Heyburn...Kathy Marker
Cody drove me to North Dakota and back on a pheasant hunting trip..I kept drifting in and out of sleep..he just chuckled and kept saying how I needed my sleep and he would get us there safe and sound and not to worry.…Seems like yesterday …rest in peace my friend ....Anthony Asson
