JENNIE HALE
OAKLEY - Jennie Hale was born to Jennie Rachel Hale and Ernest Arthur Hale in Burley, Idaho, on September 14, 1961. She died on January 6, 2026.

She was the youngest of 8 children.
Jennie is survived by her siblings Pamelia (DeVaughan) Jenks, Lucille (Kirby) Jones, Ernie (Lyn) Hale, Karlene (Randy) Hardy, Susan Porietis, Marvin Hale, Alan (Lynette) Hale, along with many nieces and nephews who have happy, loving memories of their Aunt Jennie!

Jennie was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When Jennie was born, they brought her home from the hospital and it was raining so hard that they couldn't bring her in the house. We had to sit in the house and wait for a very long time. It seemed like forever before they could bring our little sister in so we could see her. As she got a little older, we couldn't keep her in the yard! She would always sneak away. Mom got her a jumpsuit and hooked the chain to the back of it and ran a wire for her to run around the yard so she would be safe! When she got away, we would run around the neighborhood hollering “Jennie”, trying to find her. Everyone that saw her would call Mom and they always wanted to keep her awhile and then offered to bring her home. Everyone loved Jennie. She was either at the swimming pool or somebody's house. She was a people person. She loved people. She loved the swimming pool. We think she was part fish! Now when it comes to fishing, all you had to do is take Jennie to some water, she would bait her own hook, cast in, catch fish, take them off, everything. All you had to do was lead her to the water. She loved to fish! At Lee’s sheep camp, he had a special camp trailer for Jennie that he pulled behind his trailer. It was just a little sleeping place for her like a miniature sheep camp, that she stayed in. When she was with Lee, oh, she was a hard worker. She chopped wood, she could chop the biggest logs! She had a splitting wedge and a hammer, and she would pound on that thing, it didn't matter how big a piece of wood it was she would get it split. She would load up the wagon at home and keep the wood box full in the house. When it comes to Kitty cats, she loved Kitty cats she called them “diddle, diddle dee”. I can still remember her laughing. When she would laugh so hard, she would drop her face into her hands, and just giggle.

She loved to go to church and had her own copy of the scriptures and matched verse numbers from her bible and Book of Mormon for hours after church. She didn’t realize that they weren’t actually cross-references, but she did match verse numbers and underlined them. She loved attending Primary and team taught with Karlene.

She was able to attend Special Olympics through the Burley Special Education Department multiple times. The State Special Olympics was held at the Holt Arena in Pocatello. She competed in foot races and tumbling. If you haven’t attended a special Olympics Meet, you have missed a wonderful demonstration of how it wasn’t all about winning, but each competitor would stop and help other competitors more often than not if they saw someone struggling! She also was able to attend the National Winter Olympics in New York and competed in downhill and cross-country skiing. She was probably giggling all the way down the hill! Jennie’s special education program also provided her with the opportunity to serve as a Pink Lady helper at Cassia Memorial Hospital, and with the help of a very sweet lady who drove her back and forth to the Burley Hospital, she provided just under 1,000 hours of service. Jennie was awarded the Sportsmanship award at the girls State Basketball tournament in 2017.

Jennie loved to swim! She taught herself to float. I think she was at the pool more than at home during the summers. Mom always made sure that we paid for her summer pool pass. Jennie’s forever and always wish was to be fishing. She loved all animals and especially cats and horses, especially Old Blue. She loved all sports. Her favorite basketball trick was over her head standing with her back to the basket and she swished them in the basket many times. Jennie loved all foods and mostly cake and pop and pizza and chocolate ice cream and cookies. She was known for her infectious smile, and hugs, and unconditional love for everyone. We Love You, Jennie!

We would like to thank our local QRU for their quick and loving and professional service to Jennie. Also to those who cared for Jennie in the emergency room at Cassia Regional Hospital, and the doctors and nurses and staff who cared for her needs on the surgical floor at St. Luke’s Hospital in Twin Falls. Their love and kindness for Jennie in each facility filled our hearts. We will be forever grateful.

The family would also like to thank Karlene and Randy for their tireless and watchful care for Jennie for the past 10 years after the passing of her mother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Oakley Stake Center in Oakley. Burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery. Condolences:
So sorry Karlene, Alan, Ernie, Pam, and all of you for your precious loss. She was a special example to all of us and will be greatly missed .we love her. Heidi Robbins

My little friend Booboo. I had a lot of fun playing her version of tennis against the side of our house and watching her happy dance when she scored a point. And it tickled me when we fed and watered the cats. She had a dish for each one and got frustrated when Bo ate from April's dish. She was a great friend to me and a great example for me. Dwight K Hale

What a bright light Jennie was. I remember her from the time I was little teaching me her swimming skills and love for cookies. My favorite was how she would light up every time she saw me and the big hugs she would give. I’m really going to miss that. God sure did know what he was doing when he created this special person. I grieve for all who are left behind. Remember she is just a whisper away . God bless you all. I will forever remember the love and acceptance Jennie gave to all. What lessons she was teaching .. Love you always my dear friend ! Diane Bell

Jennie will be missed. I remember her and her guitar, man she loved playing that thing. Every time I would come home to visit, she would always play me a new song. And her hugs, I loved those hugs. When I would come home to visit I would look for her but most of the time she would come running yelling Lenna Lenna. I loved her like she was my big sister. I thank God every day I was raised with her. My condolences Karlene, Pam, Lucy, Alan, Marvin , Ernie and Susan. Love you guys. Lenna Poulton Turley
