Michael Eugene Spoelstra (Mike) of Rupert, ID, passed away peacefully on March 12th, 2026, in his home with his children by his side.
Born on November 9th, 1960, in Norwalk, California to the late Casey Spoelstra and Sharon Spoelstra. Mike grew up in California, later in life he ventured to different states over the years, his favorite being Idaho. He was known for his stubborn, sarcastic, quick-witted personality. He enjoyed having a good time, talking to everyone, playing cards and dominoes, and going on adventures. He loved every part of the outdoors and was passionate about camping, kayaking, and exploring the beauty of the outdoors. He spent his life devoted to building all sorts of things. He spent a better part of 45 years working as a carpenter and building beautiful homes, decks, porches, etc.
Mike married Dena Case in 1991, together they shared 10 years, and they had two children together, Cody and Emily, and Mike became a stepfather to Dena’s two daughters, Amanda and Jennifer. As a father he taught his kids to be adventurous, outdoorsy and to be stubborn and not give up easily. He enjoyed life and had many memories and adventures; he loved to share his stories.
Mike is survived by his children, His son, Cody Spoelstra and his wife, Kenzie Spoelstra; His daughter, Emily Spoelstra and her significant other, Riley Arbaugh; His two stepdaughters, Amanda Hughes and Jennifer Hughes; His grandchildren, Cameron, Diesel, Sarah and Matthew; His brother, Richard Spoelstra and his wife, Yvette Spoelstra; His sister, Tina Beltman and her husband, Tom Beltman; His 13 nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Casey and Sharon Spoelstra; His sister, Judy Tison; His granddaughter, Remy Arbaugh.
We will not be holding a service, but when it gets warmer, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life.
You are already greatly missed and will be forever. We love you and will see you again one day. We hope you a resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus, Dad.
