Robert Lara, affectionately known as Robbie passed away on April 1st, 2024, in his home community of Mini-Cassia, Idaho. Born to Maria and Silvano Lara on October 19th, 1962, in Rupert, Idaho. Robert was a cherished member of the Rupert and Burley community throughout his 61 years.

A proud graduate of Minico High School in 1983, Robert furthered his education at the College of Southern Idaho and Adams State University, Colorado. His career was marked by dedication and excellence; he worked as an Idaho POST Certified Juvenile Probation Officer with Mindoka County for the County of Cassia. Robert was also employed as a Lodge Supervisor and Youth Specialist II with the Idaho Youth Ranch for more than 16 years, an inpatient treatment facility for troubled youth. Robert also worked for various other local businesses and organizations.

Robert married the love of his life, Gailia Lara, and together, they built a family and a life filled with love and laughter. Robert was a devoted father to Matthew Lara, Robert "Robbie" Lara, Leilani Van Leuven (Bradon), Sequoya West (Mira), and Nakima West and a doting grandfather to Kiele, Sequoya "Jr", Carter, Makaio, and Maylee.

Robert is predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers, John Lara and Frank Lara. Robert's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving wife Gailia, his children, his adored grandchildren, his brothers, and sisters: Gloria (Henry); Ray (Danielle); Tony (Janet), Roy (Elizabeth), Silvano (Susan), Kathy (Jerry), and Mary Lou (Micheal) and a close-knit family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws, David and Anna Myers. His absence will also be profoundly felt by a community of friends and colleagues who respected and admired him.

Robert Lara will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warmth, wisdom, and the joy he brought to every gathering will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The Lara Family will hold a viewing at Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert, Idaho on Friday, April 12th, 2024 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Robert's honor at the LDS Rupert Stake Center, 324 E 18th Street on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 at 3 p.m. Robert will be laid to rest at the Rupert Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Rupert Stake Center following burial. Services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Highway 24 Rupert, Idaho.

Photographs or video recordings during Robert's viewing service is prohibited. Violators will be asked to delete footage and their party will be asked to leave.

He was amazing to my boys during their time in probation.  My oldest son Jarek really got on a better track in life and is going to graduate and I believe part of that was Robert's influence.  He will be missed so much! Thank you Robert for being a great friend growing up in the 80's , I'll always remember playing tackle football without pads or helmets with you, Pete G & all the neighborhood kids at Neptune Park back in the good ol' days, That was the Best! You & Pete were always like Big Brothers to me, always letting me tag along in those summer adventures. We had the best time running track together in high school. I caught up with you again while working for Probation and Parole and learned what a difference you were making in the lives of kids.
