Alan Duane McCoy 77, of Jackson Idaho passed away January 9th, 2024, peacefully at home with his family by his side. Alan was born to Garold and Velma McCoy on April 13th, 1946. He grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho and graduated from Twin Falls High School and attended the College of Southern Idaho. Alan met Cathy Ruffing and it was love at first sight. They were married in April of 1968. Even though Alan wanted boys, he was blessed with 3 beautiful daughters, whom he loved dearly.  Alan loved everything outdoors, he was always taking the family camping and to all the ghost towns in Idaho. He bought and collected guns and knives, which he passed down to his grandchildren along with the stories that went along with them. Alan was a mechanic for Goode Motor. He also worked in the gold mine in Nevada and for J.R Simplot in Heyburn. He retired from R.C. Bigelow in Boise, Idaho. Alan and Cathy then moved to Jackson Idaho to be near their family.  While here in Jackson he worked for Newcomb Farms. He is survived by his wife Cathy, daughters Michelle Cofer, Catha (LeeRoy) Castaneda, Merrilee Parsons, and his four-legged daughter, Rosie. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carole Caldwell and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  At Alan's request he will be cremated and there will be no funeral service. However, because we are in charge now, the family will have a graveside service in the early spring on his birthday. Services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Hospice Vision for their kindness towards us and Alan. Especially Erica who took care of Alan his last few days. Services will be under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home in Rupert, Idaho.

My deepest condolences to Cathy and children. Alan was my second cousin. We shared the same birthday and also worked at RC Bigelow together. At the time, in the beginning, we never knew we were family. Until I approach him one day after my mother told me he worked there and told him we were family. Always talked at work everyday and told each other happy birthday on our special day. It was easy to remember. He was a great guy. He will be missed...Alex Miszczenko

My best friend growing up and my best uncle. Always in heart and mind and will be with me till I'm gone and then forever..Robert Cummins
