April 4, 1944 - December 7, 2023

In the charming town of Declo, at the base of the Albion Grade, there lived a master seamstress, Irene Lee Ruffell. Born in Casper, Wyoming, on the memorable date of 4.4.44, Irene's life was a testament to the art of seam stressing, threading together a story of love, faith, and joy with every stitch.

Irene, with her gifted hands and loving heart, began her life's sewing in places like Wyoming, Texas, and Nevada. Each location added unique stitches to her life's fabric, infusing it with strength and beauty. At Brigham Young University, she wove the intricate patterns of knowledge and wisdom into her fabric.

Her professional life, especially her two decades at Walmart's fabric center, was like adorning her creation with the finest lace and trim. She didn't just sell fabric; she sewed warmth and kindness into every interaction, touching the lives of those she met.

The most exquisite part of Irene's sewing was her family. When she joined her life with Bill Ruffell on September 16, 1967, it was as if two beautiful fabrics were perfectly stitched together. Together, they lovingly added vibrant patches - children Mike, Tom, and Alesha, each adopted, each a unique and precious addition to their family quilt.

Irene's sewing extended beyond the confines of her home. Her involvement in church and community was like embroidering her life's fabric with threads of service and compassion. Her life was a quilt that provided warmth and solace to all who were fortunate to be enfolded in it.

Irene crafted her family with threads of honesty, hard work, and faith. Her home resonated with the laughter, love, and the rhythmic hum of the sewing machine, joining together moments that created a beautiful life.

On December 7, 2023, at 3:30 A.M., Irene put the final stitch in her earthly garment. She departed this world in the comfort of her home, in the loving embrace of her husband, Bill. Her legacy, like a meticulously sewn garment, drapes her family, friends, and community in love and cherished memories.

Funeral services will be held on December 15th at the Albion LDS Ward Building, with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM and services at 11:00 AM. Irene will then be laid to rest at the Declo Cemetery.

Flowers to honor the beautiful life of Irene, our master seamstress, are welcomed as we celebrate a life beautifully sewn together with love, service, and the joy of connecting people.

Join us in remembering Irene, not merely as a woman but as an artisan whose life was a masterfully sewn canvas of love, service, and unity. Rest in peace, Irene. Your craftsmanship in the art of life will forever be admired and cherished.

As a son in law to this wonderful lady, I have been blessed with her love and concern for me. She raised a great family and a sweet beautiful daughter. She loved all her family and friends. She may be small in stature but she had a huge heart and testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. May She enjoy heaven until we all are reunited again. Love you mom. Thanks for accepting my daughter and grandkids and son in law to your family.... Joe Stringham
