John A. Brookman

John A. Brookman passed away January 24, 2023, at the age of 84 in Rupert, ID.  John was a native of Fort Collins, Colorado who enlisted into the United States Marine Corp after high school.  Coming home, he worked alongside his father in the family-owned business Brookman Masonry as a stone mason.  Their work can still be seen around Fort Collins.  He then worked and retired from CSU’s Ground Water department.

All who knew John, knew he was always there to help anyone in need.  John was a craftsman who could fix and build anything.  He loved to putter and grew a great garden.  He was renowned gun smith.  He loved to travel and share his stories with all of us.   John was a proud father and grandfather.  His wife Margee was his best friend, and he couldn’t say enough about her.  He had many good friends over the years and loved spending time with them.  He found comfort as a Service Missionary at the Church of Latter-Day Saints Bishops Storehouse.

His smile and laugh will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his wife Margee Bibbey; daughter Patty Candelario (Joe), sisters and brothers Jeanne (Bob) Criswell, David (Kerry) Brookman, Susan (Scott) Laflam, James (Carla) Brookman; Grandchildren Isabella Brookman and Michael Brookman Jr.; nieces and nephews, good friends; faithful dogs and all the adopted cats along the way.

He was preceded in death by his son Sergent Major Michael Brookman, his parents Arthur and Theresa Brookman and sisters Rita Kaysbier and Marilyn Brookman.

A memorial will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 26 South 100 West in Rupert, Idaho on February 11 at 2:00 pm.
