Darien Jacob Zollinger, age 56, of Malta, Idaho passed away Thursday October 28, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.

Darien was born July 4, 1965 in San Francisco, California. He was 4 days old when he was adopted by Heber Jacob and Theora Mae Johnson Zollinger. He was the youngest of three children.

He was raised in Sublett, Idaho on the family ranch until they moved to Malta in 1979. Darien graduated from Raft River High School with the class of 1983 and entered the Military soon after, serving his country in the United States Navy. He continued his education at Utah Valley Technical College where he graduated with a degree in Welding, Metallurgy, and Machining. He participated in the state of Utah’s welding competition where he took 2nd place. He was an exceptional welder and a very hard worker.

Darien could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He was a man of many skills and abilities which included sketching, painting, restoring vehicles, welding, metal working, gunsmithing, and house building just to name a few. He worked in the manufacturing industry for 35 years and was currently employed at Fabri-Kal in Burley, Idaho.

In 1984, Darien met the love of his life and forever companion, Tracy Ann Maag. They were married in 1988 in the Jordan River Utah Temple. They were best friends and spent their 33 years of marriage working and playing side by side. Together, they were blessed with two boys, Kamron and Karson, that brought them both immense pride and joy.

Darien was a loving husband, father, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to everyone. He is survived by his wife, Tracy, his two sons, Kamron and Karson, and his two sisters, Char Lane George and Jesse Mae Higbee. He is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Basil “Duke” George, and sister-in-law, Peggy Linn Carter.

A gathering for friends and family will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Highway 24 in Rupert, Idaho.
