VERNAL J STANGER.

Vernal J Stanger, 94 passed away peacefully October 28th, 2021.

Vernal J Stanger was born on November 25th 1926 in Oakley, Idaho to Charles David Stanger and Ida Mae Sharp. He was the sixth of seven children.  He attended school in Oakley, Idaho. 

On August 12th, 1950 he married Eula Elaine Thacker. They had one child, David Stanger.

Vernal started working for the Pepsi Cola Company at a very young age and that is where he retired from. Vernal worked transporting vehicles after his retirement from Pepsi Cola.

Later in life after both of their spouses passed away, Vernal and Dorris met. Vernal and Dorris Oakleberry we married on September 10th, 1997 in Jerome, Idaho. Vernal gained six sons, Robert, Gary, Jeffrey, Brent, Kim and Kirk. This also brought a plethora of grandchildren to love as well.

 Vernal & Dorris lived in Jerome for a time and then bought a home and lived in Rupert, Idaho for most of their married life. Vernal was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on June 5th, 1999. He and Dorris were later sealed August 20th, 2003 in the Boise Idaho Temple for time and all eternity.

Vernal was very active in the scouting program and attained several patches. He truly loved working with the scouts. He also loved to tell stories of the time when he got to do security for Evel Knievel when he attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon. Vernal was an active user of the CB radio and made friends far and wide and enjoyed his time doing that.

Vernal and Dorris loved to take long drives and see the sites. They enjoyed going down to temple square in Salt Lake City. They spent time with their family and all their grandchildren, & great grandchildren. Vernal loved working on genealogy and loved to talk about it. They spent a lot of time going to the local temples.

Vernal was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life Dorris, all of his siblings, and four of his stepsons. Surviving is his son David Stanger, stepsons Robert (Marge) Redd, Kirk Redd, his grandchildren, Cherlyn (Ben) Martinez, Samuel (Jennie) Kuoha, Wendy (Jerimiah) Randall and countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Burley West Stake Center, 2420 Park Ave in Burley.  Burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.  A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 at the Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert and from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church prior to the funeral.
