LLOYD ROME ADAMS
OAKLEY - Lloyd Rome Adams, 74 year old long time Oakley resident passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at his home of a sudden illness. Lloyd was born on January 26, 1947 to Ernest Victor and Maxine Martin Adams of Oakley. Lloyd attended Oakley Elementary and graduated from Oakley High School in 1965. He was very active in all sports while in high school. Lloyd loved to play football and was very good at it. His talent playing basketball was also very notable. He loved to do track and was an excellent sprinter. Lloyd’s love for his sports and talent was passed down to his two sons, Brad and Jeff. His grandson’s are now involved in sports, which Lloyd was pretty proud of.
After graduation, Lloyd attended Utah Trade and Tech School, majoring in Diesel Mechanics and Welding. He loved his tractors and making sure they ran.
In 1967 Lloyd enlisted into the Army Reserves. He served for 6 years and received an Honorable Discharge along with several commendations of honor in 1973. Lloyd was a hard working person and taught his sons the value of work. He worked for several farms and businesses in his lifetime. His greatest passion and love of work was when he was able to farm and work along side his dad.
In the fall of 1971, Lloyd was helping a friend of his on the Burley Police Reserves and happened to meet his future partner, while driving around. After some conversation and eating sunflower seeds together Lloyd decided to ask her out for a date for the next night. She, of course said yes, and that was the beginning of almost 50 years of companionship. Lloyd and Kris were married in March of 1972. To this happy union, their first son Brad was born in 1975. In 1979 they had a daughter Stephanie who only was with them for 12 hours. In December of 1981 their son Jeff was born.
Lloyd loved his sons and was so proud of them and what they have accomplished in their lives. He loved his grand kids, Jaydon, Stefanee, Mason, Cortney and Brodie. Mark and Diane Bell were also very much a part of Kris and Lloyd’s lives.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Kris of Oakley; his sons Brad of Oakley and Jeff of Kuna Idaho; his grandchildren also survive him. Also surviving is his sister Loa (Steve) McLaws of Eagle ID and his brother Gary Adams of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also several cousins and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Stephanie, his parents and grandparents and Mother -in-law and father-in-law.
Lloyd was a gentle giant and a well respected person by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Until we see you again, Dad, We Love You and Miss You.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at the Oakley Stake Center in Oakley with Bishop Ryan Cranney officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans.
