Richard Charles "Dick" Kisler, 88, passed away May 9, 2015. Richard was born November 30, 1926 in Ayr, Nebraska, to John and Katherine Kisler. He was ninth in line of eleven total children. On February 1, 1955, he married the love of his life, Maggie Schick of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Dick and Maggie relocated to Heyburn, Idaho in 1956 to begin farming a 154 acre homestead. They spent more than 30 years farming various crops and raising four children. Dick is survived by his two sons Clint (Darlene) Kisler; and Cole (Mardell) Kisler, and his two daughters Callie (Shane) Higbee; and Carrie Kisler Duncombe; ten grandchildren; and nine (almost 10) great-grandchildren; his brother John (Donna) Kisler; and his sisters Lucille Ramhig; Alma Kaldor; and Delores Burkman; a sister-in-law JoAnn Kisler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Maggie; his parents John and Katherine; his brothers Victor, Ernest, and William Kisler; and his sisters Florina McEwen; Katherine Kauffmann; Elisabeth Weidenkeller; Dick seemed the happiest with a fishing pole (or two) in his hand. He really enjoyed the time that he got to spend with all of his fishing buddies. If he couldn't go fishing then Fort Hall was his next choice. Dick taught himself to paint and created many wonderful works of art. He was quite a woodworker also. He built two beautiful bedroom sets and many other pieces of furniture. He always had a story for his grandkids. He would talk about the time he spent in the Navy, working for the Los Angeles Police Department and the years that he farmed with his brother in Nebraska. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Valley Vista Assisted Living and Minidoka Home Health and Hospice for the loving care that they gave Dick the few months that he was there. A private family celebration of his life will take place at the old homestead at a later date. The family suggests donations be made in his name to a charity of your choice. Cremation services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home, 188 South Hwy 24 in Rupert.
