We are sad to announce that long time Rupert resident, Gloria Rucker,
passed away on January 16, 2023, after living a full life for 84
years.  She held many prestigious titles:  Mother, Grandma, Little
Granny, Great Granny, Aunt, Sister, and Best Friend.
If you were lucky enough to eat at the Chicken House, you got to
experience Gloria's hamburgers, homemade French fries, chicken, and ice
cream.  The Chicken House was a community fixture in Rupert for many
years.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Judy Adams and son, Randy Adams
(Gracie),  her grandchildren Cristanie, Cristian, Justin, Hailee, and
Jill, and by her great grandchildren Elijah, Isaiah, Jordan, Phoenix
and Korbin, along with her brother Don, sisters Linda and Daisy and
many nieces and nephews.

We have lost our shining star and the hardest worker we've ever known.
We will miss hearing her say, "Hello, Baby!"  Although Gloria knew
almost everyone in Rupert and Quartzsite, Arizona. As per her request no services will be held.

Condolences:

I and a few of her other gals . Who had the pleasure of working for her are so sad. We want to have a wake. . Us Girls and Regular customers should have a Wake. Celebrate her. I know she didn't want it. But her girls didn't always listen . Lol What am I kidden. She was a hard boss. However she really did teach us how to work hard. I had so many memories eating there. Saying when I get big. I want to work here. I wish I would have kept one of those dang uniforms . Something bout black polyester pants and red and white stripe shirts. Cleavage out window and blue slush puppie. Caught my husband Matt. 25 years ago...Jennifer Stone Gibson

This makes me so sad. I too worked for Gloria at the Chicken House. Gloria taught me the value of work. She was a great boss and made workers out of alot of us. She will be missed by everyone who knew her...... Sandy (Harper) Johnson

What a wonderful person. I worked with Gloria at Zipfers. I enjoyed her great personality, work ethics and love for people. She will be missed..She made everyone feel special.....Nancy

Working at the Chicken House was my first job. Gloria my first boss and boy did she scare the crap out of me! Went home crying the first day, but quitting was not an option. I am so grateful I didn't. Not only did I learn why Gloria was such a hard boss, I also learned that just because she was a boss didn't mean she couldn't be a mentor and best friend. After busting butt to meet her expectations; we would sit in the back and shop thru mail catalogs. We even bought polka dot jean jackets and pants to match! Last time I saw her she still had them hanging in her closet! Gosh so many memories! For years I would come back just to help the lunch rush after I had moved and went to college and came back to Rupert. I had no confidence in myself until she asked me to show her how I did my makeup because she hired me because of my blue eyes. There really are no words to describe her. She was amazing, I really loved her!!! To her family; if you find those polka dot jacket and pants in her closet I would love to see them one more time! You all were blessed with the best mom and grandma you could have asked for!....Karen Gallegos

I worked at Chicken House in the early 70’s. 1970 to 1972 while I was in high school. I believe that was before Gloria owned the place because that was not the name of the people who owned the drive inn then. The Chicken House does hold special memories for me!...Gurney Galloway

Many Thanks to Gloria for the many happy memories she gave to my father, Bob Rucker. She knew how to work hard, cook and be a friend to all...Connie Anderson

We are so glad that we had the opportunity to visit with Gloria in October. She always knew how to entertain and the Fisher love of music was still going strong. She so reminded us of her brother Bob with her quick wit and fantastic sense of humor. We will miss our phone calls and catching up on events. Gloria had the biggest and most generous heart and we will miss her so much! We count ourselves blessed to have had her in the family....Greg, Kelly & Julie Fisher
